Featured in Lightning 100’s Miller Made Music Showcase #2, Oblio is band based in our own city of Nashville. Oblio is one local band that is obviously taking Nashville by storm. Having a large following in the area, the crowd was excited, to say the least, as they took the stage. People vacated their seats at tables and poured in from the patio seating at Mercy Lounge to stand in front of the stage. Many were fans of the band already, however many new fans were definitely made that night. Not only was the music fantastic, the guys are great performers. Their concert was fun and entertaining and made you want to sing along, even if you don’t know the words. They are all very friendly as well. Before and after they went on stage, they were only too happy to talk with fans.

The three members include Ben Dumas on drums, Terry Price on the guitar and vocals, and Travis Vance on the bass. They currently have 3 albums in circulation. The first is called Dichotomy released in 2005, followed up by an EP called Seeds in the same year. Oblio is currently working on an album entitled Southern Trends. Their songs have a simplistic, somewhat haunting sound. Robin Cracknell of Americana UK Magazine, describes Oblio as "A superior collection of thoughtful, well-performed songs with an understated sort of beauty rarely seen even from the major players."

Anyone who is interested in not only local, but good music should certainly check out Oblio. The band’s Myspace page features a sampling of songs listeners can hear to get an idea of the band’s sound. All the currently released albums are also available on iTunes.
